Century Downs Racetrack and Casino
History
It is located at 260 Century Downs Drive, Rocky View County, Alberta T4A 0V5 (less than one mile north of the city limits of Calgary and 4.5 miles from the Calgary International Airport), owned by Century Casinos and opened last April 2015. This location is ideally positioned exiting off the Queen Elizabeth II Highway, the main corridor between Calgary and Edmonton, and the most heavily used highways in Western Canada, next to the CrossIron Mills shopping center, a major regional attraction. Due to this, it can capture both the north and the northwest Calgary markets, which do not currently have a casino.
Track Details
It is a standardbred, quarterhorse, chuckwagon, and thoroughbred racing using Flat dirt, 5 1/2 furlongs. On April 1, 2015, its casino was opened, consisting of 550 gaming machines and electronic gaming tables, an off-track betting room, a restaurant and lounge area as well as meeting and event space.
