Fair Meadows

Fair Meadows is a horse-racing track in Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States. It opened in 1991, at the Exposition Square of the Tulsa State Fairgrounds.

History of Fair Meadows

1991 – Fair Meadows Racetrack opened on July 20, 1991, at Expo Square in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where it was established as a live horse racing and betting facility at the Tulsa fairgrounds.

1992 – Thoroughbred racing was documented at Fair Meadows, according to Equibase’s “Fair Meadows Track Records.”

1994 – Quarter Horse racing was documented at Fair Meadows, according to Equibase’s “Fair Meadows Track Records.”

1995 – Mixed-breed racing was documented at Fair Meadows, according to Equibase’s “Fair Meadows Track Records.”

2003 – Fair Meadows hosted its first USAC Silver Crown Champ Car Series event on the track’s one-mile surface, according to the Fair Meadows Race Track reference page.

2012 – Fair Meadows faced a proposed end to live racing after the Tulsa County fair board approved a naming-rights agreement with the Muscogee Creek Nation that included ending live racing at the racetrack, according to Daily Racing Form’s “Fair Meadows to cease live racing.”

2013 – Live racing was allowed to continue after the earlier shutdown plan was reversed, with the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission voting in favor of allowing live racing at Fair Meadows for the 2013 season, according to Casino City Times’ “Live racing at Fair Meadows back on for 2013.”

2026 – Expo Square listed the Fair Meadows live racing meet from June 3 through July 18, 2026, with a published post time of 6:00 p.m. Central Time, subject to change. Current Fair Meadows horsemen materials reference Quarter Horses, Paints, and Appaloosas as racing breeds for the meet, according to Expo Square’s “Fair Meadows Live Race” and “Fair Meadows Stall Application.”

Main Track

  • Fair Meadows features a dirt main track used for flat racing.
  • The track has hosted Thoroughbred, Quarter Horse, Paint, Appaloosa, and mixed-breed races.
  • The main track is listed as a five-eighths-mile oval.
  • The stretch is listed at approximately 760 feet.
  • The track profile lists four-furlong and six-and-one-half-furlong chutes.

Fair Meadows Grill

  • Expo Square lists a Fair Meadows Grill menu and publishes monthly Fair Meadows Grill specials.
  • Fair Meadows Grill serves casual race-day food, including soups, salads, appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, wraps, hot dogs, baskets, nachos, quesadillas, breakfast items, sides, desserts, soft drinks, beer, cocktails, and wine.
  • Menu prices generally range from $2.50 to $12.00 for food items.

VIP Nights

  • Fair Meadows offers Live Race VIP Nights on select dates during the live racing season.
  • VIP Nights are held in a climate-controlled area upstairs in the Ranger Arena.
  • The VIP area includes a dedicated teller, a self-serve wagering machine, and a bar.
  • Expo Square lists VIP Night tickets for ages 18 and older.
  • Published 2026 VIP Night listings show a 6:00 p.m. event time.

The “Woody’s Corner”

  • It is displayed in the first-floor clubhouse lobby.
  • It commemorates the five consecutive Belmont Stakes (1982-1986) winners trained by Woody Stephens.

Paddock Area

  • It is the picnic area.

Schedule of Major Races in Gulfstream Park

🐎 Spring-Summer Meeting

  • Commenced on Thursday or Friday of the week before the Kentucky Derby in April.
  • Lasts through the first or second Sunday in July, depending on the start of the following Saratoga meet.

🐎 Fall Meeting

  • Follows the Saratoga Season every Thursday or Friday after Labor Day and ends on either the last Sunday in October or the first Sunday in November. It depends on the dates of the Breeders’ Cup.

🐎 The Autumn Installment

  • Known as the Fall Championship meet because several eventual Eclipse Award title winners have won in some of the meeting’s races, like the Jockey Club Gold Cup.

🐎 Belmont Stakes

  • Named after sportsman August Belmont Sr., who assisted in funding the race. Other authors also say it was named in honor of his son, August Belmont Jr. He is a key member of the Westchester Racing Association, which founded the racecourse.
  • Inaugurated in 1905 and running until today, except when the government banned gambling in New York State (1911–1912 ), and the race was held at Aqueduct while the grandstands at Belmont Park were reconstructed (1963–1967).
