Hippodrome de Carrère
Hippodrome de Carrère is a horse-racing track in Le Lamentin, Martinique, French Antilles, France.
History
It is located at 97232 Le Lamentin, Martinique, French Antilles, France. Specifically, it is in the center of Martinique, one minute from the airport. The racecourse is endowed with the Caribbean and national influence, a unique structure in Martinique, benefiting from several visitors and tourists.
It hosts race meetings six days per year, consisting of 96 gallop races and 16 harnessed trotting races. Although the ground and the arrangements are deliberately for horse races, there are also other outdoor activities such as the teaching of the riding and horse shows.
After the track’s closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Carrère racecourse reopened on July 12, 2020. Horse lovers can attend the races without pari-mutuel. A reopening under the sign of respect for barrier gestures for the public and jockeys.
Track Details
The Gallop track is 1,800 meters, made of grass and a rope on the left. The Trotting track measures 1,200 meters, also made of grass and a rope on the left. On the other hand, the training track is 2000 meters in sand. The track can accommodate 84 stable boxes. On the other hand, the track’s grandstand has 1,000 seats and VIP rooms, presentation round, and car parks (including VIP parking). They also offer a panoramic restaurant that is only available for reservations (05 96 51 76 49), a bar and fast food in the activity center, and merchants for creperie, ice cream, etc.
Aside from horse racing events, it also facilitates pony rides, inflating games in the Village, equitherapy sessions, meetings around cardiovascular risk, a village of local products, and a Grand Concours d’Elegance.
Other facilities are presentation round, Pari-Mutuel Hippodrome (PMH) PMC STAR 3000 system, a Panoramic Restaurant, a Bar and fast food in the activity center, Merchants (creperie, ice cream, etc.), and presence of a doctor, veterinarian, and ambulance during the races. Their technical system includes starting stalls with 14 starters, a Video system, OMEGA color photo finish, a Commissioners office, 2 Jockeys rooms (1 for women, 1 for men). Saddle boxes. Anti-doping control box and Glazed press room.
