Vincennes Racecourse

Vincennes Racecourse is a horse-racing track in Paris, France. It opened in 1863, at the Rte de la Ferme.

History of Vincennes Racecourse

1863 – Vincennes Racecourse was inaugurated on March 23, 1863, on the site of the former Imperial Farm.
1870s – The racecourse was damaged during the Franco-Prussian War.
1879 – Vincennes was rebuilt and reopened after the war.
1906 – The creation of the winter meeting helped establish Vincennes as a major seasonal center for trotting.
1919 – After World War I, racing resumed at Vincennes, and plans developed for a major international trotting event.
1920 – Vincennes hosted the first edition of the Prix d’Amérique, which later became one of the most famous harness races in the world.
1934 – The final steeplechase race was held at Vincennes on November 26, 1934. After that, the venue became fully focused on trotting.
1952 – Night racing began at Vincennes, giving the racecourse another signature feature.
1983 – The racecourse entered a modern era with improved grandstands and upgraded public areas designed for major racing crowds.
1993 – The main track was modernized with banked turns, helping create a faster and more demanding racing surface.

Main Course / Grande Piste

  • Vincennes Racecourse is officially known as Hippodrome Paris-Vincennes and is located at 2 Route de la Ferme, 75012 Paris, France.
  • Specifically, the racecourse sits inside the Bois de Vincennes in eastern Paris, giving visitors a parkland setting while still keeping the venue accessible from the city.
  • Visitors using public transportation can take the RER A to Joinville-le-Pont station, which is the main rail access point for the racecourse.
  • Visitors can also reach the venue by bus. Bus 77 serves the Hippodrome de Vincennes stop, while Bus 112 serves the Carrefour de Beauté stop and Bus 201 serves the École du Breuil
  • Visitors traveling by car can reach Vincennes Racecourse by taking the A4 motorway and using the Joinville-le-Pont
  • Parking is available in the center of the racecourse, with access listed from Route du Pesage and Route de la Pyramide.
  • Visitors traveling by bike can use nearby Vélib’ stations, including Station n°12163 – Hippodrome Paris-Vincennes and Station n°12128 – Pyramide / École du Breuil.
  • Racecourse hours are listed for race days, with daytime opening from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and night racing opening from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
