Breeders’ Cup 2023
One of the biggest mistakes that bettors will make at the Breeders’ Cup this year, and every year for that matter is spreading the bankroll around like it is a smorgasbord. It isn’t, it is your money and your key or at least a part of making you more of it at the Breeders’ Cup.
If you spread out your money in every pool out there and go after every sequence, you may have an action filled day, you may even get lucky and hot some big ones, but in the long run that will get you swallowed up with the small fish in the ocean.
My suggestion would be, and I admit I play aggressively, would be to put most of your bankroll for the weekend, maybe 60-70%, yes that much and put that into the race, sequence, or horse you feel best about. Fool around with the rest. If you’re best opinion is right, make it count.
My next suggestion would be to limit the types of wagers you make to those with which you do well. Be selective in which pools you dive into.
The first Breeders’ Cup race on Saturday is the dirt mile. It is a tough and competitive race as is any Breeders’ Cup race, but I like pace advantages and I see one here. I will take a shot with speed to start off Breeders’ Cup Saturday.
Zozos always showed promise but seems to have come around in his last few races. I think Geroux will put him on the lead and try and take these wire to wire. The two turn mile should actually help him and I think he can get home here.
Stage Raider is fast but looks a cut below these to me.
Cody’s Wish will be a short price and can win a two turns but is he as good as last year? Is two turns his best game? I think the answer to both those questions is probably not, so at a short price I’ll take the horse getting the jump on him.
Charge It never seems to deliver in the big spots. Blinkers off looks like an experiment at this point.
Skippylongstocking is another who looks a cut below.
Shirl’s Babe not for me.
National Treasure is probably the one I am most concerned with. He can sit a nice trip here and he will be back on a fast track at a distance he should really like. I wouldn’t argue with anyone who liked him.
