So, The Preakness is at Laurel. The Belmont is at Saratoga and here we are trying to decipher the second jewel of the Triple Crown.

The Preakness this year is more like an allowance race, those good old non-winner of three races we used to see back in the day. That said, it is a competitive 14 horse field, and that makes it an interesting wagering proposition.

I realize they came home in a very slow half mile in The Derby. That is part of the reason I do not particularly like Ocelli. The other is he is a maiden. I do however strongly consider Incredibolt who made up ground in that slow finishing Derby but had some trip related excuses.

I see a race with 8 out of 14 horses who like to be near or on the lead. The race is crying for a closer and I gravitate to Incredibolt who fits that profile perfectly. He is not the only one, however. Bull By the Horns while a little slow on paper can close and gets a dream set up. Under those circumstances he can take a nice step forward which he would have to do to win here, but at a 30-1 morning line you can take that chance.

My strategy would be to attack this race using the two closers on top with as many horses as I can afford in the back slots in the triple and superfecta. If I am right about Bull by the Horns and he can sneak into this at a big price those payouts should be sweet. Those are the two I will look to be alive to in the multi race wagers. Hey, we got Trendsetter home in The Lexington at 32-1 so it is not like we haven’t done this before.
